Workshop Background:

  • The Academic Integrity Workshop is an opportunity for UCF students (undergraduate and graduate) to develop and create academic ethical standards which will empower one to practice and defend both personal and academic honesty, integrity.

  • This workshop also serves as an opportunity for students to participate in conversations regarding university ethical standards to provide an understanding of academic and campus cultures.

  • The workshop is conducted in a group setting (7 maximum).

  • Each workshop is two (2) hours in length. Students will be expected to commit to the full two hours scheduled.

  • We provide workshops throughout the summer term and fall/spring semesters.

  • Skype: If a student is attending a regional campus, an online/distant learner, or lives more than one hour away from the main campus of UCF, our office can complete a workshop via Skype.

Components of the Academic Integrity Workshop:

  • Values Exercise – an opportunity for students to determine their own values, principles, and moral codes. Where did these values originate, where did they come from? How does one articulate one’s values and principles when face with a situation which impacts (conflicts) with one’s moral code.

  • Risk vs. Reward – a discussion on why does one act against one’s moral code and the University’s ethical standards. What are the causes, circumstances, situations which would lead a student to compromise their own moral code and risk violating academic standards?

  • The UCF Creed – students will start to process an understanding how to merge one’s personal values with the values of UCF. What do the values (creed tenets) look like? How do we know if a student has demonstrated academic integrity?

  • Ethical Scenarios – a chance for students to practice articulating themselves and processing what to do next when faced with challenging college level ethical situations.
